white colored ball items to wear of the wedding

*** TO BE KILLED 7/24/2017 ***

** Mini Poodle lovers APPLY with rescues NOW to save young Teddy's life as he is on the NYC Kill List ** Meet little Teddy, an adorable 4 year young little Mini Poodle boy. Little Teddy is a shy little guy who warms slowly but surely, loves to play with balls, stuffed toys & is housebroken too. He lived with 2 kids of which one he got along with, playing gently & being social, but not the other (most likely teased him too much), so it would be best for him to get a small dog savvy, all-adult new home next. Little Teddy also lived with a CAT & was always curious about her but she kept her distance, so Teddy did not really interact with her. This adorable little guy NEEDS a another CHANCE at life & love! PLEASE, give him one, open your heart & home & APPLY with rescues NOW to save his life. ** HURRY **, he is about out off time! Little TEDDY A1118092 DIES at the Manhattan, NY, ACC UNLESS white colored ball items to wear of the wedding ? Rescued ? Fostered ? Adopted RIGHT NOW!!

Basic:
Teddy is a 4 year old unaltered small breed dog that the owner got from someone who was looking to rehome him. The owner is giving up Teddy because he has started snapping and growling at one of her 11 year old siblings. The owner has only had Teddy for about a month and a half and does not know if he has ever been to a vet or if he has any medical concerns.

Socialization:
Around strangers, Teddy is described as shy and then he warms up slowly. Teddy has lived with two 11 year old children and he is tolerant and playful with one of them but he attempts to nip the other one. When Teddy plays with adults, he is gentle and when he plays with the one girl he is social with, he plays gently. Teddy has spent time with a 5 year old medium breed dog with whom he played very respectfully with. The owner has a cat at home and Teddy was always curious about the cat but the cat kept her distance so Teddy did not really interact with her. When there are storms, Teddy is calm. The new owner has never given Teddy a bath, touched his food bowl, cut his nails, brushed him, or disturbed him while he was sleeping. When someone rings the doorbell, Teddy is not bothered and when someone approaches Teddy and his owner on the street while he is being walked, he is not bothered.

Upon intake, Teddy was growling and snapping at both counselors in the room but once he was put into a carrier, he was crying for attention. :(

KNOWN HISTORY:
Intact male, owner surrender
Previously lived with: Adults, children (both aged 11), and a cat
Behavior toward strangers: Shy though warms up slowly
Behavior toward children: Gentle though also reported to snap frequently
Behavior toward dogs: Respectful
Behavior toward cats: Has not interacted with resident cat, keeps his distance
Resource guarding: None reported
Housetrained: Yes
Energy level/descriptors: Shy with a high activity level
Teddy displays a low energy level in the care center; we cannot be certain of his behavior in a new home environment though recommend daily mental and physical stimulation.

RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only
_X_No children (under 13)
_X_Place with a New Hope partner: Teddy has not acclimated well to the kennel environment and has allowed only minimal handling since intake. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.

Potential challenges:
_X_Handling/touch sensitivity: Teddy has been noted to become uncomfortable with handling at times, especially when a person is reaching over him. It is important to always go slow and give Teddy the option to walk away from any social interaction. Teddy should never be forced to approach anything that he is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be Teddy’s choice to approach a new person or thing. Teddy may do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to his new surroundings.
_X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Teddy needs careful behavior modification and management to prevent future bites. We recommend only force-free, reward-based training methods for Teddy as more aversive techniques are likely to increase fear and increase the risk of aggression.

RE: Petharbor
Just because a dog is not on Petharbor does not mean they are safe by any means. There are many reasons for this like a hold or an eval has not been conducted yet or the dog is rescue-only... the list goes on... Please, do share & apply to foster/adopt these pups as well until their thread is updated with their most current status. TY!
